Alex Clark - Founder

Music Arranger & Designer

Mr. Clark is a native of Lexington, South Carolina and has lived in the midlands of South Carolina for most of his life. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of South Carolina and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Conducting from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to his appointment at Chapin High School, Mr. Clark was the Director of Bands at Strom Thurmond High School in Edgefield, South Carolina from 2020 to 2023.

Bands under the direction of Mr. Clark have achieved tremendous growth and success. His marching bands have consistently placed in the top two at the SCBDA Lower State competition and in the top five in the SCBDA State Finals. His concert bands and jazz band have also performed successfully within the school, community, and competitively.

Mr. Clark is an active performer and trumpet player and holds membership in the South Carolina Brass Band. Beyond this, Mr. Clark is an avid composer and has written music for concert band, orchestra, and commissioned marching band shows.

In his spare time, Mr. Clark is a sports enthusiast and loves to spend time with his wife of two years, Lauren, and his golden doodle, Penny.

Alex DeLoach - Founder

Drill Writer & Designer

Alex DeLoach is the Director of Bands at Chapin Intermediate School and serves on the Marching Band staff at Chapin High School. He previously served as the Director of Bands at Pine Ridge Middle School. 

Mr. DeLoach is originally from Lexington, South Carolina. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of South Carolina where he was a South Carolina Teaching Fellow.

Mr. DeLoach brings a wealth of marching band and visual experience to OTM. He marched trumpet with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps from 2017-19, and served as a trumpet section leader for his final year. As a show designer, Mr. DeLoach has designed marching band shows for schools throughout South Carolina. 

Michael J. Calamas 

Percussion Arranger

Michael J. Calamas is a percussion educator, composer, and performer from Columbia, South Carolina. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he earned a BM in Percussion Performance under the instruction of Dr. Scott Herring. Michael also received private instruction in composition under Dr. John Fitz Rogers. He currently resides in Columbia, SC as the Percussion Director and Assistant Band Director at Irmo High School. Calamas has vast performance experience in the ensembles at USC, The Palmetto Concert Band, and as a member of the drum and bugle corps, Carolina Crown. Notable works by Calamas are "aether 6", with its premier performance at PASIC in 2021, and "Nhiyr" for vibraphone and marimba duo.
